The Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation (Missouri Preservation) has released their 2022 list of Missouri’s endangered historic places. Included on this year’s list is the Edgerton home at 609 Polk St in Chillicothe. A total of seven properties were included on the list this year. The goal is to raise awareness for historic preservation and specifically for these listed properties. We are very excited to be included in this! Their full press release can be found at Press-Release_2022-PIP-.docx (live.com). The video showing the properties is at Missouri's Historic Places in Peril 2022 - YouTube. You can read more about the Edgerton home under our Projects-Renovating section.
OUR MISSION
Renovate and re-purpose old buildings
We breath new life into old structures and help them meet the needs of our community today. Through grants and donations, we raise funds to renovate buildings and bring them up to modern uses. Buildings may then be sold or rented to provide additional funding for more projects. Commercial and residential properties are eligible for consideration.
Keep a watchful eye on the past
We keep a list of significant properties to be proactive with their preservation, stepping in if they start to become derelict.
Remind us of our past
We strive to bring the stories of our past to life through the Chillicothe Hall of Fame, Century Plaques, and local history publications.
We also want to keep our community's history alive with educational projects.
We are always looking for fun ways to get our community involved in its history, young and old alike.
