APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED APRIL 1 THROUGH APRIL 30, 2024
The Chillicothe Hall of Fame is administered by the Livingston County Preservation Society whereby outstanding individuals from our past are recognized for their significant contributions in the cultural and historical development of Chillicothe, Missouri. One new member will be inducted into the Hall of Fame annually.
This project has been endorsed by the State Historical Society of Missouri 2021.
Hall of Fame members honored to date include Baker and Inventor Marion Franklin “Frank” Bench, Highway President Charles Francis Adams, Writer and Artist Olive Rambo Cook, Police Chief Maurice Dorney, Architect R. Warren Roberts, and Composer Claude T. Smith. The Livingston County Preservation Society has developed a mobile exhibit to honor these individuals. When not touring, this mobile exhibit resides at the Sliced Bread Innovation Center at 100 Elm Street. The Preservation Society puts a call out to members of the community for nominations each year, usually in the spring. The name of the nominee and 2-page biography detailing the nominee’s accomplishments may be submitted as a Word document attached to an email to [email protected]. Please include your contact information. A photograph of the individual should be included if possible. Nominations are typically open in the spring of each year. Submissions are then reviewed by a committee of local citizens with one selected to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
The individual nominee’s personal and professional contributions and accomplishments should favorably represent the people of Chillicothe.
Criteria for nominees are as follows:
- Must not have been convicted of any crime;
- Must have been deceased for 35 years or more prior to the year submitted;
- Must have resided in Chillicothe for at least than 5 years;
- Accomplishments must have contributed highly to Chillicothe's culture and values.
A committee consisting of qualified members from non-governmental organizations in Chillicothe will review all submissions, fact-check biographies as needed, and make the final selection.
